Dried Artichokes
Dried Artichokes
There is nothing that says family more than pasta, but the artichoke is the heart. You cannot eat these, but you can look at them all the time knowing there is love under the roof of this home.
As often as I can, I bake a different combination of fresh fruit and vegetables. The artichokes are fully dried and a time consuming process of over 36 hours, but are fabulous and keep for a very long time out in the open. I absolutely adore using them in handmade floral arrangements, picture taking, holiday garland, gracing a fabulous bowl and much more.
They are cherished by many and are limited in quantity, but when I see a hearty batch, I always make more. Please inquire if you desire a certain amount as they will post again. Please read notes on size of artichokes.
As a youngster, my family often made artichokes as a part of our main course. The kids run away as soon as they see one on the table, but if you can pin them down long enough, I have not seen one denied yet. Once you show the little ones how they can be cooked and eaten, they are up for the challenge and become interestingly amused.
The artichoke is the *Grand Poobah” of delicacies. In the 16th Century is has been written that only men were offered such a food. Woman were off limits to this aphrodisiac as the folk law that was thought to enhance physical attraction and forbidden for woman to consume. All I can say is they put a smile on my face and I lick my lips while the aroma steeps from the pot, but that’s as far as I go.

It has always been my pleasure to hand bake dried fruit and vegetables in the oven. I adore the rustic appearance and decorate the home all year round.
Many dried items will darken over time. I decided to dehydrate the fruits and vegetables which has contributed in retaining the natural color to an extent. All dried fruits and vegetables are non-edible. They are for crafting, decorating holiday decor, including tablescapes, picture taking and flower arrangement inserts.
As a SAFETY PRECAUTION careful preparation has been taken into consideration from hand and surface sanitizing, to the sterilization of utensils, bowls, cutting boards, dehydrator racks and dehydrator machine.
Dehydrated and oven baked fruit and vegetables are heated for hours at a time to make sure the texture is dry. The items are sold and packaged in a craft box or gift wrapped, but recommended they be removed from the box upon purchase to sit in the open air where they will continue to dry over time. They make perfect décor and I’m sure anyone would be proud to display them.
