Burning the Midnight Oil is a handmade whipped Body Butter with Tallow and Olive, vitamin E and essential oils of grapefruit, bergamot, bay rum, lavender and cedarwood. Hints of powdery floral, sugary vanilla, sandalwood, tonka bean and earthy, woody notes. All combined, create the most adoring barbershop fragrance.
Body butters are rich and moisturizing with a heavier texture suitable for dry skin. Just a little goes a long way. Most enjoyable and beneficial in the winter months when cold weather can make your skin feel rough, cracked and irritated, but also just as wonderful any time and ideal for after shower, rubbing into tired feet and slipping on a pair of comfortable socks, soften elbows, knees, arms, knuckles, hands and under eyes. Tallow Body Butter has often been used in small amounts to glide through hair, softening and defining curly waves while adding a bit of fragrance and shine.
Body butters are often formulated with enriching butters and oils embracing specific skin types. The use of tallow is non-comedogenic, quickly noticeable and well received by our skin. Welcomed from mature skin all the way down to babies as the fatty acid profile is biologically similar to the oils of our own skin and absorbs well, smoothing and replenishing.
Many skin care products are made with vegetable and plant-based oils and butters which are fabulous in every way. Tallow on the other hand is not Vegan and sourced from animal fats that have been used for centuries and suitable for all skin types.
What makes Tallow a time-honored butter to use for skin care? Throughout history, rendered beef tallow has been used to protect skin from the harshest conditions and skillfully made from 100% grass fed animal fats doing away with commercial petroleum and water-based fillers. Tallow is earth friendly and incredibly sustainable. Sourced by local farmers and ranchers as an important product in households for the use in making candles, shaving cream, skin care and desired over vegetable oils for cooking.
Will tallow based products have an odor? Farmers and enthusiasts take pride in generations of rendering for a lovely, clean, stable product. Many plant and vegetable-based oils and butters have their own unrefined aroma such as cocoa butter with the slight fragrance of chocolate, coconut oil with hints of vanilla and colada and shea butter to name a few with a light nutty aroma. Tallow, once rendered goes through several natural stages of processing with results of a neutral aroma. Just like any other butter, when formulated with other beautiful luxurious oils, tallow has become quite convincing as one of the most loved for skin care products.
